My Hero

Around October of 2001, my 11 year old son Kevin came home from school and very quietly left a note for me on the kitchen table. He had copied a quote his teacher put up on the board. He said the note was for me, but never said another word about it.

I do not know the author.

"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic, it is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others."

At age 11 he understood the message and his father.
