Eagle Scout, Marine, NYPD, FDNY Chipura's Act of Heroism
John's unit was called to the Towers that morning so he was one of the brave firefighters that was going into the building while everyone else was trying to get out. He never made it out that day.
My Hero
John was a true American Hero. From the time he was young he served this great country. First as a Boy Scout reaching the rank of Eagle Scout, then as a Marine who survived the bombing on October 23, 1983 in Lebanon Beirut. Once home he became a New York City Police Officer moving up the ranks to an Undercover Detective. Deciding he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps he became a New York City Firefighter like his younger brother. John's unit was called to the Towers that morning so he was one of the brave firefighters that were going into the building while everyone else was trying to get out. He lived to help people. That is what he enjoyed most. John is survived by his sisters, Eileen, Nancy and Susan, his brother Gerard, Brother-in-laws Raymond and Joe, Sister-in-Law Eileen, nephews Adam, Paul and Matthew, Nieces Laura, Heather, Catherine and Elizabeth and Fiancée Gina. John's parents were not alive to witness this tragedy. The murder of a true American Hero. John will be remember for always by more then just his immediate family but by his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his extended family which include the Boy Scouts, the Marines, the NYPD and the FDNY families. We will Remember Him Always and Forever. 11/27/61 - 9/11/01
